Happy couple have a real 'field day'

Thu 16 Aug 2018

We were delighted the other weekend to play host to a young couple who celebrated their wedding with a reception under canvass in the field behind the Vale Douzaine Rooms.

It is the first time the Douzaine has authorised such a function and were pleased that the event went so well for the happy couple and their guests.

As you can see from the pictures below, the field provided a first-class venue and all the guests, including a number of children, appeared to enjoy themselves.

The couple, Grant Steer and the former Aimee Horsepool, live in the parish and wanted to do something a bit different after their civil ceremony but that was based in the Vale.

'Using the field here ticked all the boxes,' said Grant.

The day was actually a double celebration for the couple because they also made it Naming Day for their daughter, Matilda, who is aged nearly one.

The tented accommodation was provided by Simply Tipi and looked very special on what was clearly a very special day for our guests.

  • Junior Constable Bill Cohu supervised the preparation of the field, which is available for other functions on request. The Douzaine also has a larger area available for hire, now that the former quarry behind the Douzaine Rooms has been levelled and grassed over. Please contact us for details.
