Parish accounts for 2025 published by the Constables

Wed 18 Feb 2026

Vale parochial accounts for 2025 and some forecasts of what will be asked to be raised through parish rates in 2026 have been published today by the Constables.

These include the Constables' audited accounts for last year plus requests from the Vale Cemetery Committee and the Rector and Churchwardens of the Vale Parish Church for money to cover expected expenditure this year.

The Constables' accounts show that nearly £700,000 was raised last year to administer the parish, the bulk of which (£442,000) was spent on refuse collection and disposal and a further £146,000 on parochial administration and £70,000 as a contribution to the parish cemetery costs.

Street lighting and maintenance accounted for a further £21,767.

The cost of running the parish was slightly more than raised through rates and other income but was covered by reserves, which stood at a little over £655,000, down from the year before.

More to come
Further details about the parish finances will be published ahead of the March parish meeting.

Based on its budget estimates, the Vale Parochial Cemetery Committee is asking for a £75,000 contribution from ratepayers to cover the expenses of running the cemetery, which this year are calculated to be a little under £100,000.

The Rector and Churchwardens are asking for just over £24,000 for works to the parish church and administrative costs, which includes £6,500 for preliminaries, contingencies and professional fees.
