Some Vale households may have double waste bills

Tue 21 Feb 2023

Some Vale property owners may have received duplicate bills for their waste and recycling charges, the States has said, as it apologised for the error.

Guernsey Waste became aware of the problem yesterday morning after the bills were posted out and householders realised they had received two identical invoices.
In a statement, Guernsey Waste said all property owners should be receiving the bill for their 2023 waste and recycling charge. Unfortunately there had been a printing error, and as a result some owners would receive duplicate bills.
"We are really sorry if you have been affected," it said, "but if you have received two bills with identical invoice numbers, one is a duplicate which you can ignore. You only need pay one annual charge (for each property you own).
"If you have any queries or concerns, please contact us by email at [email protected] or call 01481 223002."
Media reports said that the printing and distribution of the bills had been outsourced to a local company. In error, it started producing the invoices in colour rather than black and white. It stopped and started again in mono – but the initial run of 3,000 bills was sent out as well.
