Elections needed at forthcoming Vale parish meeting

Fri 28 Oct 2022

Two contested elections will be held for parochial positions at next week's Vale parish meeting, it has been confirmed today.

Publication of the official notice in La Gazette Officielle – pictured – indicates that a ballot will be needed in respect of the Cemetery Committee and for La Mare High School Committee, which cannot be deferred and so will be taken on the night.

A new douzenier will also formally be returned – Ollie Brock, who is standing for the seat vacated by Paula Robinson, who did not seek re-election after a number of years serving on the Douzaine.

Since there is one nomination for each of the four places on the douzaine, no election is required.

There is one nomination for the Vingtaine de l'Epine seat on the Cemetery Committee (representing the detached part of the Vale) to complete Ken Carre's term of office, and two nominations to replace Brian de Jersey, who is standing down after many years on the committee. As no deferred election is possible, a vote will be taken on the night.

La Mare High School Committee has one vacancy and two nominations which, again, will be decided on the night. La Mare Primary School Committee has two places and two nominations so no election will be required.

The meeting will be held at the Vale Douzaine Rooms on Wednesday November 2 starting at 7.30pm.
