Special Liberation exhibition opens today

Sat 07 May 2022

A reminder that a special Liberation Exhibition with a unique Vale emphasis opens today at the parish douzaine room. Doors open at 10am and the display, specially curated by Douzenier Victoria Robinson, tells the story of various aspects of life under occupied rule when the German forces controlled the island.

‘The Occupation in the Vale Exhibition’ features a variety of people, places and events from the parish with an extensive range of photographs and items from private collections.
It is divided into sections with information about the parish and images of the time and is a fascinating glimpse into life under enemy occupation.
For instance, there are displays on distinctive parish properties such as the Vale Mill, with its German range-finder tower, Paradis House, near Beaucette, and the former L'Ancresse Lodge.
