It's official – the Vale has spectacular views

Wed 25 Jul 2018

A new issue by Guernsey Post features the Vale in no fewer than four of the six stamps it has just released. The accolade is all the greater because the release is under the banner of SEPAC, the Small European Postal Administrations Co-operation, and features this year's theme – Spectacular Scenery.

In addition, the stamps are the first in the British Isles to feature images taken by a drone, and could also possibly be the first of their kind in Europe, says the utility.

'To achieve this,' says Guernsey Post, 'we commissioned Elliott Cockett, a young Guernsey-based photographer known as "The Drone Ranger", who was able to capture striking aerial scenes of the island from an elevated position.'

The scenes chosen can be seen below and include Torteval Church and St Saviour's Reservoir. Those from the north of the island are the Vale Castle, Rousse, Pembroke and Beaucette Marina.

Further details can be seen at Guernsey Post's website.
