Sat 21 May 2022
The event will be a great family day out with a variety of activities and entertainment and competitions to enter. The poster gives an indication of the attractions that will be provided – and there will be lots for the children to do too: Bouncy castles, free inflatables, a sandcastle competition, face painting – and fire engines as well!
Special day
Organisers from the douzaines said they have tried to think of everything to make this a very special day out to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and it's aimed at all islanders, not just parishioners.
The fun starts at 11am and is scheduled to end at 6pm so there's plenty of time to join in the fun. There will be tables and chairs so people can bring picnics if they wish and there will also be a range of food outlets there, while St Mary's Church Hall will be open for light lunches.
Competitions
Throughout the day there will be live music from local bands, food and drink stalls, children's entertainment, vehicle displays, and Guernsey’s longest street party with seating down La Route De L’Islet.
Competitions are also planned for the day including a Jubilee themed cake contest and a decorated carriage competition for bikes, prams or scooters. Prize giving will take place at 5pm on the day. Further information and details on how to enter can be found on the Vale parish website at https://valeparish.gg/news/jubilee-cake-competition/ or from the Vale or St Sampson’s Douzaine offices.
