Recycling bags again available from supermarkets

Thu 22 Dec 2022

Good news just ahead of Christmas – white and blue bags for recycling paper and cardboard plus cans, plastics and cartons are again available in local supermarkets.

The Vale Douzaine office has just been notified that the previous supply difficulties have ended and stocks of bags should be readily available at the major outlets.

We have been advised that if bags are not visible, then to please ask staff for some.

The update means rolls of blue and clear bags and food waste caddy liners are again freely available, free of charge, from most local supermarkets. Just ask at the tills or customer service desk for a new roll. Vouchers are not required.

As a further reminder, "bin night" collections are unchanged over the Christmas period, so please set out bins and recycling on your usual night.

If you're unclear of which is your night, go to www.gov.gg/mybinnight and enter your postcode. Click on your own address and the day and date on which to put out your bags will be displayed like so:

If you require a replacement caddy and/or glass bag these are available to collect from the Household Waste & Recycling Centre (for opening times go to www.gov.gg/hwrc), the Green Waste Site at Chouet (for opening times go to www.gov.gg/wasteopeningtimes) or from your Parish Constables Office (for opening times go to www.gov.gg/parishes).
