Summer update on L'Ancresse Common

Mon 04 Aug 2025

Our colleagues at the Vale Commons Council have been busy with a couple of things over the last few months, including revamping its own distinctive website, which provides a lot of information about the Common itself.

In its latest update, the VCC reports on work that's been carried out over the summer to keep Guernsey's largest area of public recreational land in good condition and on how it has been necessary to step up the number of collections from the dog bins around L'Ancresse.

This is good, in that it suggests owners are being more vigilant about picking up after their pets – but it also means more work for the contractor who empties them and expense for the VCC.

However, it's all part of maintaining the Common, which is a key part of the council's remit.

For more on what it's doing, do take a look at its latest newsletter here.
