Vale playground gets a makeover

Tue 26 Mar 2019

The Vale's very popular playground at Les Amarreurs has received a makeover – thanks to staff from Specsavers' Southampton office (pictured above courtesy Guernsey Press and Star).

They flew over specially to clean and paint the equipment at Grande Havre after being invited to do so by Junior Constable Bill Cohu, who looks after the area on behalf of the parish.

He described the operation as a win-win for everyone because the parish benefited from the equipment getting a refresh at no cost, while Specsavers staff enjoyed a day out of the office while undertaking a worthwhile community project.

'They did a great job,' he said. 'Everything looks really bright now.'

Further inland from the playground, the parish installed and maintains a full sized football pitch with goalposts, which is also well used.

  • Because of the range of parish improvement projects being undertaken, the Douzaine is always looking for volunteers. Anyone interested in lending a hand can call the office on 244155, Monday - Friday 10.00 - 13.00 or email: [email protected]
