Vale walking trail highlighted

Mon 23 Jul 2018

Many people have commented on how beautiful the Bridge is looking because of all the flowers there and much of that is down to the Vale Floral Group and States Works, who do a fantastic job in planning and keeping the plantings in tip-top condition.

Restoration of the old plantation outside the North Side Chip Shop has also significantly improved the area and, thanks to a suggestion from the group's Denise Cohu, another enhancement has been added.

While the building on the west of the plantation was also being restored, she suggested the addition of a display board celebrating the Bridge and parish plus providing some highlights of the area.

The result is the Bridge Walking Trail which provides a brief history of some of the area's historic highlights and plots a route from the Vale Castle to the Channel Queen Memorial so that you can see them all. Please see the images below for more detail.

Even for those who think they know the parish, it's well worth a look and a wander around – especially in the current fine weather.

The initiative is a further example of how the Vale Douzaine continues working to improve the parish.
