Organisers of the North Show and Battle of Flowers have issued an urgent appeal for volunteers to help ensure that this year's show can go ahead smoothly.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the show says it is now in great need of people who can help out in two crucial areas – running the entry gate and the car park.

Melanie Harvey-Alan, the North Show Treasurer, said both roles are vital for ensuring a smooth entry for visitors and creating a welcoming first impression and is asking Vale parishioners if they are able to help Guernsey's biggest summer show and celebration of the north of the island.

This year's event is on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th August and organisers are looking for individuals or groups who can help out. This is what's involved:

Entry gate
The responsibilities include:

  • Selling entry tickets (wristbands)

  • Checking any pre-purchased tickets

  • Ensuring wristbands are being worn

  • Greeting attendees as they arrive

  • Assisting with any entry-related queries

Car park
The responsibilities include:

  • Collecting money

  • Issuing car stickers

  • Guiding the drivers to a parking space.

The organisers say that all roles are straightforward, fully briefed, and suitable for team or individual participation.

"We are looking for volunteers to cover shifts between 9.30am and 9pm. If you are able to assist no matter how small, please let me know," said Ms Harvey-Alan. "Your support will make a big difference in helping the event run successfully."

If you can help, please contact either the show secretary Debbie during the day on 07781 128658 or Ms Harvey-Alan outside of  9am and 5pm weekdays.
