Swimmers are being warned that they face fines of up to £65 if they park their cars on the painted "pavement" at Bordeaux while taking a dip. The advice follows police saying that some regular bathers have claimed the douzaine said they could park there.

Vale parishioners are being asked to donate old fabric to a community project making bunting for the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day. The Liberation Community Bunting Project wants to capture the "make do and mend" spirit of World War Two by decorating St Peter Port in homemade bunting next year.

Parishioners have been asked to be good neighbours when cutting hedges and not make too much noise at unreasonable hours if using power tools and mechanical equipment. The request comes from the States Office of Environmental Health and Pollution Regulation following a number of complaints.

Parishioners are being reminded that the summer inspection of hedges and streams will begin later this month as the deadline for cutting/cleaning is the 15th. Douzeniers will be out immediately after that day as there's no period of grace permitted by law.

A special help session to assist older islanders and those with mobility issues to fill in their tax returns is being held at the Vale Douzaine Room next week. Attendance is free and Revenue Service staff will be on hand to advise on a number of issues.
