Nearly 100 parishioners have yet to pay their parish rates despite final reminders for these being sent out on 20 June. As a result, those who have still not cleared the amount risk facing recovery action unless they contact the Constables' office urgently.

Vale parishioners are being asked to help the States of Guernsey save money by suggesting what public services could be dropped or by coming up with other money saving ideas. In particular, government is looking for thoughts on generating new or increased income; restructuring services, including through outsourcing or procuring them differently; and by reducing, stopping or restricting access to services such as through means testing.

Five female Asian hornets and a primary nesting site have been found in the Vale so far this year as part of the annual “Spring Queening”, island wide trapping programme designed to stop this invasive species from becoming established in Guernsey. The earlier strong north-easterly winds lead to an unprecedented number of Asian hornets being captured.

The Vale Douzaine is to discuss later this month an application to build four new homes on what is said to be the last remaining green field on the northern side of Braye Road.

States Traffic and Highway Services has responded more fully to Vale Douzaine concerns about road safety issues at Bordeaux and near the Iceland store off the Bridge. Although no immediate action is to be taken, the matter is under review.

Parishioners are being reminded that the summer inspection of hedges and streams will begin later this month as the deadline for cutting/cleaning is the 15th. Douzeniers will be out immediately after that day as there's no period of grace permitted by law.
