States of Guernsey Planners do work in confidence with developers on draft development frameworks (DFs) and priority is given to housing, regeneration and key industrial expansion areas, it has been confirmed to Northern parish officials.

Parish officials in the North of the island have reacted angrily to Planners releasing yet more land for housing close to the 150-home Saltpans development as it became clear some owners were opposed to building on their property.

Up to 35 new homes could be built in the Saltpans area on top of the 150 already earmarked for the former Kenilworth Vinery site, planners said yesterday. The site, known as Le Four Banal, adjoins the entrance to the as yet unbuilt data park off Route Militaire and is said by the Development and Planning Authority to be within the Bridge Main Centre outer boundary.
