Users of the hugely popular play area at Les Amarreurs provided by the Vale Douzaine are being urged to ensure that it remains a dog-free zone.

A special invitation is being extended to the whole island by the Douzaines of the Vale and St Sampson's to attend a Jubilee Jamboree at L'Islet Common to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Friday 3rd June. A full day's fun is promised with live music from local bands, food and drink stalls, children's entertainment, vehicle displays, and Guernsey’s longest street party with seating down La Route De L’Islet.

Guernsey’s douits, streams, reservoirs and groundwater are at risk of pollution by small residues of pesticides some of which are not easily removed by water treatment processes, Guernsey Water is advising parishioners. Safe drinking water limits are set extremely low at 100 nanograms per litre, (0.1 parts per billion).

Traffic delays and disruption caused by road closures have prompted the Constable of the Vale to repeat a call for the island's parochial authorities to be involved once again in the process.

Suggestions from a 13-year-old Vale resident about how Pembroke Bay could be made more enjoyable for people to use have been considered by the Vale Douzaine, which was "very impressed" by the ideas to improve the beach-going experience.

Events held in the Vale to celebrate Liberation Day were declared a success by Junior Constable Bill Cohu, who said the tea party for more senior parish residents to see the cavalcade as it passed the Douzaine Room was the best yet.

A reminder that a special Liberation Exhibition with a unique Vale emphasis opens today at the parish douzaine room. Doors open at 10am and the display, specially curated by Douzenier Victoria Robinson, tells the story of various aspects of life under occupied rule when the German forces controlled the island.

Dog-fouling has long been an issue in the Bailiwick and certainly in our Parish. Last year the Vale Commons Council took part in a study, over a 30 day period, to determine the extent of dog fouling on the Common. This year, your Douzaine have decided to support a similar parish study.

A special exhibition based on the German Occupation and its effects in the parish of the Vale is being held over the Liberation Day weekend and features extensive material from private collections.

Plans are well under way for a joint parish celebration for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
